The Sidewood Team comprises of Debbie and David Rae along with their Doberman, Bezzecchi (Bez) and mini panther, Penelope (Peeps).
Whilst Debbie runs the business and makes sure that everything is in place to make everyone's visit a pleasurable one, you will always find David fixing or making something!
Bez is named after Italian MotoGP rider, Marco Bezzecchi.
Debbie and Bezzecchi have been training in IGP sport under the guidance of K9 Protection Scotland. This is a demanding sport, involving the three disciplines of obedience, protection and tracking. Debbie and Bez are aiming to complete their preliminary BH test later this year, and their IGP1 next year.
Sidewood is also home to the newly formed "Sidewood IGP Club" who have their training ground based at the farm.
A bit about how we got here!
Debbie moved to Sidewood in 1999 and shortly after set up a livery and dressage training yard called Sidewood Dressage.
Fast forward 20 years and a whole load of life changes, the business stopped offering livery and training services, but kept the indoor arena open to hire. As time went on, less and less horses were using the arena, especially in the summer months and we started gaining regular bookings from a few dog training clubs.
The decision was made to concentrate the business on the canine market and hence Sidewood Canine Services was born.
The arena is now home to a variety of different training clubs including Hoopers, IGP, Personal Protection Dogs and Flyball as well as hosting competitions and training seminars.
If you are looking for a training or competition venue, Sidewood's large indoor arena provides a safe and secure space for your event where you don't have to worry what the weather forecast is - which is handy in Scotland! We also offer an exercise field adjacent to the arena for dogs to stretch their legs before embarking on their activity. There is also access to a short and secluded woodland walk in the forestry next door.
